The 2011-2012 TV Season - FOX renews The Simpsons

Note how the title is The 2011-2012 TV Season, not 2010-2011!

Long running animated comedy, The Simpsons has been renewed for it's 23rd season by FOX.

The news means that the show will be on screens till at least 2012 and it will reach it's 500th episode millstone. It will also become the 3rd longest running prime-time series in the history of television. It's come along way from being a short on The Tracey Ullman Show back in 1987!

I used to watch The Simpsons all the time, but it gets tiring after a while. I loved the movie but I don't watch the show anymore, unless there's nothing else on and it happens to be on. I can't believe it's still going though. It's a great achievement.

Are you happy The Simpsons lives on? Do you still watch it?

The X Factor - A 5th Judge?

The producers of the show are reportedly planning on introducing a 5th judge.

Recently, Simon Cowell invited 20 fans of the show to a brian-storming session on how to improve the show.

The idea to introduce a guest 5th judge during the live shows was received well. The idea is to make the vote more clear-cut in the wake of Treyc Cohen's controversial elimination from the show last weekend.

If there's a 5th judge and one judge opts out of voting like Cheryl did at the weekend, then the vote would still go to Deadlock, but the problem is, if all the judges vote, it would never go to Deadlock, which is sometimes a better way of eliminating people from the competition.

According to an insider, one idea is to have whoever is performing on the show, be a guest judge during the vote.

It is unknown when the rumored change will come into affect.

So, what do you think of this? Would a 5th judge be a good idea?

Pink Is Pregnant!

There must be something in the water.

Pink is pregnant with her 1st child. The singer, who's real name is Alicia Moore is 12 weeks gone. She recently got back with her husband Carey Hart.

Back in April it was speculated she was pregnant but it was denied.

I'm so happy for her. She'll be a great mother.

Pink's Greatest Hits Album is being released next week.

Corrie's Jack's Death Scores Big Ratings

The death of Jack Duckworth and the reunion of him and Vera Duckworth pulled in massive ratings for Corrie on Monday Night.

11.64m watched Bill Tarmey's last episode which ended his 30 year run. His character Jack returned to his house after a birthday party for him in the Rovers. He sat in the very arm chair, his wife Vera died in nearly 3 years ago and passed away, but nor before Vera (Liz Dawn) returned one final time to take Jack to Heaven with her.

It sounds cheesy and awful, but if you've watched these characters for as long as I have and really felt the emotion, it was done extremely well.

The Duckworths will be missed on Corrie.

Did you see it? What did you think?

AMC Renews The Walking Dead

AMC's new hit The Walking Dead has been renewed for a second season with only two episodes shown.

The show which is based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman, broke records when it premiered on Halloween. It was become the most successful cable show. It opened with 5.3m viewers. It has even been said they want to run the show for 10 seasons to match the 10 volumes.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have it on record so I will get round to it.

Are you happy about The Walking Dead being renewed? What do you think of the show?

MTV EMA's 2010 - The Performances

With the EMA's comes performances and they have to be spectacular. It's like the rules. Spectacular and memorable!

Opening the show was Shakira featuring Dizzee Rascal!

Brilliant. I really love Shakira! And I love the Waka Waka Song! It's such a fun thing to say and it feels like it brings us all together! I also like her new song Loca! Great performance!

Next up was Kings of Leon!

That was good.

Next to perform was Miss Katy Perry!!

I love her, I love the song, but tell me, why was this not so good? She sounded weird. Once she got into the big notes of the song it was good but for Katy Perry this was kinda bad. She better be bloody amazing when I go see her in April!

Next was Rihanna!

Very Good! I love this song so much, and usually I tend not to like Rihanna singing live, but this was great! Go Rihanna!

Next was Kid Rock...

Not a fan really but I guess it was good? You tell me!

Moving on, Linkin Park performed next.

Sure, it was good but is it me or are these performances breaking the rules? Boring much.

It gets worse now when B.o.B and Hayley Williams took to the stage.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with these two, it's just I hate this song possibly more than I hate Taylor Momsen and that is really saying something! People who know me know how much I hate that tramp and I really hate this song, so much so, I physically can't listen to it.

Back to good people singing. Miley Cyrus is up next.

Hello! I am a fan of Miley Cyrus. I don't see anything wrong with the girl. She's a teenager. She's experimenting and she's having fun! This is a great song and she sings good. Good job Miley! Good job!

Plan B performed next but I can't find a video of it, but to be honest, your not missing much. Unless you like Plan B, then feel free to search for one and if you find it let me know yeah?

Moving on, Ke$ha was next!

I LOVE KE$HA! This was great. Maybe she should have sang her new song "We R Who We R" but this was still great. I love her staging and the body paint and the diving into the crowd at the end! Genius!

Closing the show was Bon Jovi!

Who doesn't love a bit of Bon Jovi? This was a great way to close a not so good show!

What did you think of the performances? Who was your favourite?

So it was MTV's 2010 EMA's on Sunday night in Madrid, Spain!

Lady Gaga, who actually wasn't at the event walked away with 3 awards! She did appear several times to accept her awards. She was at one of her Monster Ball Shows, and the awards were brought to her on stage and she accepted them! It was rather amazing actually.

I'm very surprised Katy Perry won Best Video. Don't get me wrong it was a great video, but come on. It was against Lady Gaga's "Telephone"! Have you seen that? AMAZING is not even the word! I also can't believe she didn't win Best Live Act. Trust me, from personal experience she should have won that too.

Other than that congratulations to everyone who won!

The X Factor - Was It A Fix?

Nearly 15 million of us watched it and we all know what happened. Well, incase you don't, here's the crack-a-lack.

  • Katie and Treyc were in the bottom two.
  • Katie sang first, forgot her words, generally did bad and ended up saying "sod it" and sat on the floor until the music ended.
  • Treyc sang and was alright.
  • Simon voted to save Katie.
  • Cheryl refused to vote since they were both her acts.
  • Dannii voted to save Treyc.
  • Louis voted to save Katie.
  • Treyc was voted out of the competition.
Obviously there's been plenty of backlash and controversy. What is The X Factor without it right?

So I have a few questions!

  • Why did Simon vote for Katie? She clearly messed up the song and the judges are supposed to vote on that performance they've just seen, not anything else.
  • Why did Dermot O'Leary go to Cheryl straight after Simon? Whenever this has happened in the past and it has happened, they always went to the judge who has both acts in the bottom last! So why did they go to Cheryl straight after Simon? Why change the rules?
  • Cheryl refused to vote. Fair enough. I don't think I could do it either! BUT She did say leave me to the end and I'll take it to deadlock, which means it reverts back to public vote. Why didn't they do that? Why didn't they go back to Cheryl and take it deadlock, which she said she would?
  • Why did Louis vote for Katie? Same as Simon, she clearly messed up. Treyc sang better than her, surely he should have saved her?
I didn't like Treyc. I don't think many people did because she never connected with the audience. She's one of those acts when she's there but you don't remember her. Even when she was on stage, I asked "Who's that?" I feel it was unfair she was voted out under such bad circumstances but to be honest, I would rather have seen her go, over Katie. Katie has personality! She gives good performances too (sometimes) and she's memorable!

I want to know what you think about all this? Was it a fix to keep Katie in who gets more headlines than an other contestant? Or was it innocent? Should Cheryl have voted? Should they have gone to deadlock? Should Simon and Louis have voted for Katie?

Corrie and Eastenders are Crossing Over!

The two rival soaps are crossing over! And probably not in the way you'd think.

Yes!
Children In Need is coming up soon and the two soaps are crossing over for the charity event in a special episode! The cast member taking part in the crossover are:

Coronation Street:
  • Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw)
  • Antony Cotton (Sean Tully)
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper)
  • Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan)
Eastenders:
  • John Partridge (Christian Clarke)
  • Laurie Brett (Jane Beale)
  • Nina Wadia (Zainab Masood)
  • Charlie G. Hawkins (Darren Miller)
  • Kylie Babbington (Jodie Gold).
No details about the episode have been given, but I'm sure it's going to be a barrel of laughs. They usually are!

Make sure you watch the Children In Need event on BBC1, from 7pm on 19th November! It's a great cause so donations would be excellent!

Strictly Come Dancing - Arlene Phillips blasts Judges

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has blasted her former colleagues.

The 67 year old choreographer has criticized the judges for judging some couples on entertainment and effort, while judging other on technical ability.

Speaking to The Sun she said:

Every time Craig starts talking technically, Bruce interrupts and covers up anything that's negative that Craig might say. I think at that point I might be jumping on the desk and shaking my arms. It does seem that Craig is the only one that really cares about technique. Even Len Goodman, who is a master ballroom dancer, seems less concerned about technique and more concerned with performance. Are they being advised to score on technique? On the ability to master the dance? Or is there a new guide? For me it's quite surreal and obviously playing by a different set of rules. I'm sure some people found Ann's dance amusing and if that's what the criteria is, if it's the amusement and entertainment factor, then everyone needs to be told they can play the same game and have a good time. But it's a mixed bag of rules."

She continued:

"There is no 'you are the winner' or 'you are the number one' in a lot of schools. They try to make every child feel like a winner and it feels a little like that - by entering you are a winner. I love Strictly when the heat is on. When the demands are there and the judges are on one side and the viewers on another and it's like Mount Vesuvius erupting. But now it's less so. It's a 'good on you' for walking on the floor and attempting a dance. As a judge I'm demanding. I'm free with my comments when I see something I love, but I'm quite demanding with people. It's every judge's choice to mark how they feel, but I'm more with Craig."

Phillips was famously sacked from the judging panel back in 2008, in favour of younger Alesha Dixion who won the series, in the previous year.

What do you think about this? Do the judges judge the competition correctly?

The 2010-2011 TV Season - Life Unexpected Cancelled?

Shiri Appleby has apparently confirmed the end of Life Unexpected. The actress who stars in the show as Cate took to her Facebook and said:

"I hate to bring the bad news but our little show is coming to an end. The cast, the crew and I thank you for all your support these past two years. It's been a little slice of heaven!"

It hasn't been confirmed by The CW yet but it probably will be within the next few days. The show's executive producer however did promise the show would have a beautiful ending.

The Only Way Is Essex Series 2?

I bring happy news!

ITV2's new reality soap The Only Way Is Essex has been renewed for a second series AND a Christmas Special! The show follows a group of friends and frenemies in their lives of living in Essex, the only place to be apparently. The show has done great in the ratings and has a strong following of fans, including myself.

I personally love the show. It's so addictive and the majority of characters are so loveable. Especially Amy Childs who is my favourite.

Are you happy TOWIE has been renewed?

If you saw yesterday's post about Corrie's Tram crash you would have seen this image:

didn't give an explanation to what is going on this image but now I can. This is from Tram night. Tina starts her new job at The Rover Return becoming the 52nd barmaid. Obviously with it being Corrie, her first shift does not go well.

An explosion is heard while in the pub and as Tina rushes out, she sees the horrifying scene of the tram crashing off the viaduct and into the flat where her boyfriend Grahame currently is. The image shows her running down the street.
Also Barbara Knox who plays Rita Sullivan was awarded with an MBE last week and revealed that she told The Queen "if she's not doing anything on 9th December, watch Corrie, it turn's 50!" Brilliant!

Eastenders star Steve McFadden who plays Phil Mitchell was arrested on 3rd November for harassing the mother of his child. He was bailed and has to report to a police station early next year.

Adele Silva who has played Kelly Windsor several times is returning AGAIN next year it's been confirmed. She originally started in 1995 and left in 2000. She then came back in 2005 and left in 2007. She is set to return to make former lover Jimmy King's life a misery as you do. Personally I would rather not see her back, but we'll see what happens.

Gerard McCarthy who played cross-dresser Kris Fisher is returning later this month. McCarthy left the show earlier this year, but is set to return during the aftermath of the fire. Hollyoaks is currently loosing a lot of cast members due to new series producer Paul Marquees axing them to create a change.

New cast member Sandy Winton who plays High School Principal Michael Williams has said it's sad to be loosing so many cast members. It was recently announced that 6 characters would be leaving the show over the next few months. Winton pointed out that Sam Clark who play plays Ringo Brown's exit will be the one to watch and it's very emotional and memorable.
In other news, one of the cast members leaving, Erin Mullally's character Declan will become money obsessed in his job of running Lasiter's. It's been said he will argue with ex-girlfriend Kate and won't have time for his daughter India and turns into step-dad Paul Robinson who was recently pushed off the muezzin as part of the 6000th episode celebrations.
