This is very, very sad news.
Emmerdale's series producer Gavin Blyth has died. He was 41.
Bylth took over producing Emmerdale back in January 2009. He began steering a major overhaul and made the soap brilliant and what it is today, scoring ratings over 8 million on a regular basis.
He created the Sharma's and the Barton's, brought back favourites Cain and Charity Dingle, and signed James Sutton, Suzanne Shaw and Pauline Quirke. He also created some the show's best storylines including the murder of Mark Wylde, Sally Spode's obsessions with Vicar Ashley Thomas and the praised Aaron Livesy's sexuality struggle.
Blyth was a brilliant producer and a great man and this is a such a big loss.
Our thoughts go out to his family and friends and everyone at Emmerdale at this sad time. RIP.
