Soap Watch: Emmerdale Fire Aftermath

Did you watch the Emmerdale Fire? If not spoilers follow and pretty quickly!

Sadly Viv and Terry died in the Post Office.

Incoming rant. Okay first of all, the fire wasn't as good as I expected and oh by the way, it was the crazy detective dude that's been hanging around Katie. Henshall! Yeah! I orginally though it was Andy, but when that teaser trailer was released, I knew it was Henshall straight away. Andy is too bulky to be that shadowy figure.

Anyways! Yes, the fire wasn't that good. The acting was good because they seemed like genuine reactions. I guess they weren't going for the shock feel or massive stunts because basically within 10 minutes everybody was safe on the street except for Viv, who had fell asleep in her flat after being rejected by Terry. It wasn't until later when Bob and Terry entered the burning Post Office and flat above to save Viv and the twins. Bob saved his kids. Terry never made it out, either did Viv. I think what's angered me and other fans of Emmerdale is, these two characters have been on the show for nearly 20 years each and they didn't get a death scene or anything. Viv didn't say a SINGLE WORD during the 2 episodes. Not one word. We don't even know if she woke up and tried to get herself and her children out. We don't know if Terry managed to find her? Was there a final kiss before death? What happened in there?

Literally all we got was a big explosion, the residents moved away from the shop by Police and a fireman coming and saying "oh I've had to pull my men out, your family or friends are probably dead like" What?! They really dropped the bomb there. And Emmerdale was doing fantastic. This was just a big let down and a disgrace to the characters and actors.

And I'm not the only one complaining. Deena Payne who played Viv for 18 year appeared on This Morning and expressed how she was upset that she did not get a good dramatic send off and how her character changed in the last year, which prompted her to leave. Sad really.

What did you think of the fire and the characters who died?
