Back in 2007 the first feature length Simpsons Movie was released and it became a huge hit and was really great. Now executive producer James L. Brooks has said a sequel may be coming soon. Although he revealed a sequel may be in the works, he did mention that creating the first movie took a very long time. It took a year just to come up with the story. However, the main show is their priority.
