The new scheme is called 'On Air, On Sale' and it will start on 1st February 2011. The move means that when the record company releases a new song to the radio stations for play, it will be released to the public the same day instead of weeks or months after.
Universal UK chairman David Joseph said:
"On Air, On Sale is good news for any music fan and exciting for our artists, who can now go into the studio knowing they don't have to wait weeks, or sometimes months, to see the music they have created go on sale."Record company Jive recently changed the release date of Britney Spears's highly anticipated single 'Hold It Against Me' from 20th February to 17th January due to overwhelming demand.
What do you think of the move? Will it get you to buy more music?
