Popular character cut from new Spider-Man film

Oh this is very sad news. Possibly my favourite character from the Spider-Man franchise will not be making an appearance in the Andrew Garfield led reboot.
J. Jonah Jameson will not be in the new Spider-Man movie according to IGN. There was no reason given.

What a shame! The character who originally was the owner of The Daily Bugle and Peter Parker's boss was played by J.K Simons in the first 3 Spider-Man films which saw Tobey Maguire play the web-slinging hero. He was brilliantly cast and a highlight of all 3 films because he provided comic relief and he was just how I imagined him to be. I know he wouldn't have been cast in this film because it's a reboot but still it'll be weird without the character. I guess this mean Peter Parker won't be working at the Daily Bugle in this film.

The untitled Spider-Man reboot will be released in July 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Denis Leary.
